Building the Digital Optical Module (DOM)

Inside the DFL

Item Information

  • Date: 11/20/2006
  • Full Size: 727x546 (2.42" by 1.82" at 300dpi)
  • File Format: image/png
  • Description:
Inside the DFL each DOM is placed on a cylinder with a light source at the bottom. The light then reflects back and forth as it goes up the tube so that when it reaches the DOM it is "diffuse" and hits the bottom of the PMT pretty evenly. The light source is many different types with varying intensity, duration and color. Then we study the DOM response to the different types of light.
